![]() Your trust attack gets interrupted by this and in most cases you are instantly guard broken. This has reduced damage, range and costs more stamina than normal attack.Īnd in DS3 its the quickest way to kill yourself.īecouse if you block a hit when trying to poke, best case scenario, you take about 50% damage and your stamina is left around zero. However when combined with spears, they are not.Īs you know, you can "poke" from behind your shield with a spear without stopping to block. Greatshields and Spears Greatshields are more less fine, there are balance tweaks wich wouldn't hurt, but overall they are fine. Havel's Set has been here for 3 games now, and in this one, it's the worst possible choise you can make. Only thing where armor wins over high HP are bleed, poison and curse resists.Īnd I need to ask, what made them go with this (un)balance around armors? It's pointless, both PvP and PvE, you are better with more vigor in EVERY scenario.Īnd this goes same for elemental protections, same deal. is the design philosophy behind this, did noone from FromSoftware look at this? In terms of taking a hit, Havel dies in 6 straight sword hits, while Knight can take 7 - 8. Dark souls heads will roll full#Guy in Knight Set with high vigor in terms of survivability beats the hell out of vitality guy in full Havel's. As I said, flat damage bonus from vitality isn't something to write home about (you will not notice the difference around SL120) and having more HP always wins. Havel's Armor can be quite effective in protecting you againts those (read "somehow works"),īut the main point of armor is physical defense.Īnd even though this math is not 100% accurate, overall we can make a simple statement that basic starting armor is about 40% more efficient than Havel's Set.Īnd this is what I cannot comprehend, why is this the case. Now listen, this was just a simple example, there are way more stats to armor than just overall physical protection, magic resists and bleed, poison, curse etc. Cathedral Knight set - dmg reduction: 31.2 / weight 41.1 = 0.759.Exile Armor Set - dmg reduction: 32.3 / weight 42.3 = 0.763.Lothric Knight Set - dmg reduction: 30.1 / weight 36 = 0.836.In terms of purely physical damage reduction overall to weight ratio: More to the point, Havel's Set is a complete joke considering it's massive weight. Maybe there would be some difference on low level invasions, but in range of SL120, hell no. Vitality: Armor - Weight ratio Vitality is the most effective way to raise flat resistance. ![]()
